The new normal: Pandemic ushers in a new generation of condos
For the past few years, The One condominium now under construction at Toronto’s busy Yonge and Bloor intersection has been the one to watch as it scales new heights as Canada’s first super-tall skyscraper. More recently, it has become the one to watch because of design changes that have already been made in response to COVID-19.
When the construction site was closed in the early stages of the pandemic, developer Sam Mizrahi, president of Mizrahi Developments, and his team took advantage of the legislated shutdown to imagine a new way of living at The One and at 1451 Wellington, their project in Ottawa. Both are expected to be complete in 2022.
